This gown is in style of the 17th Century, the time period of many recent costume movies.
This is the time period of Dangerous Liaisons, Young Catherine, and many more. Gowns in similar styles to this have been worn for weddings, renaissance weddings and magnificent special occasion and masquerade gowns. The gown is made from brocade ( a soft fabric in a solid color with a woven in pattern) and Venice Lace (lush, historic looking embroidered lace, top of the line) This gown looks great on any figure type. This gown has rows of fine lace on the ruffle at the elbow, and across the underskirt.
The lace is available in white, ivory or black, brocade colors are listed on the fabrics page linked below. The gown laces down the back (with a modesty panel underneath) with matching ribbons, making it adjustable. The skirt and the bodice are separate, for period accuracy, and comfort of fit.

For a historic look, light colors are key, for a dramatic and much more modern look, this gown can be made in rich lush cobalt blue or purple!
I recommend wearing this gown with a bridal petticoat or hoop skirt. These can be purchased or rented from bridal stores or purchased inexpensively on Ebay.
