Lovers knot tiara, or how not to use recognizable jewelry, a cautionary tale

Recently a new docu-drama has been released on Amazon Prime documenting the last generation of Romanoffs ruling Russia.

Near the end of the series, the empress wears a tiara that is instantly recognizable. Why? Because it is the tiara made famous by Princess Diana. It is called the Cambridge lovers knot tiara.

Each of these tiaras has a unique history. It is fascinating to trace the lifetime of royal jewelry. What none of this says, however, is the truth of the tiara showing up in on the tv show. The truth is that a replica of the tiara can be purchased for under $20, and it was probably just used on the show because it is pretty. Ha!
